When I’m not building circuits, I’m coaching kids’ soccer! Check out my latest book: The Ultimate ABC of Soccer.
My name is Fekadu W. Debebe. I’m an Avionics Systems Engineer, a former aircraft maintenance technician, a student pilot, and a proud father of three: Nathan, Blen, and Eyuel.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach. My aviation journey began at Ethiopian Airlines, where I worked as an Aviation Maintenance Technician from 2003 to 2009. That hands-on experience laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for aviation and engineering.
Today, I bring that passion to my work -- and to the skies. I fly Cessna 172s to stay closely connected to the avionics systems I help design and support. I’m also the founder of FWD Skill Zone (https://www.fwdskillzone.com), an educational platform where I share engaging, hands-on STEM projects -- from Arduino-based builds to flight sim hardware.
Outside of engineering, I serve as a youth soccer coach for the City of Cerritos. I love working with kids and helping them grow both in skill and character. That passion led me to write The Ultimate ABC of Soccer -- a fun and educational book for young players just beginning their journey on the field.
In my spare time, if I am neither building circuits nor flying a Cessna, then I am coaching kids’ soccer, helping young minds grow on and off the field!
Whether I’m designing systems, flying airplanes, coaching soccer, or building electronics, I’m driven by one goal: to turn ideas into reality and inspire others to do the same. My mission is to make knowledge accessible, practical, and inspiring for learners of all levels.
